Christmas is always a hectic time but one that is filled with happiness and family traditions. I love traditions because I think they connect us emotionally with our families even when we might not be able to be with them physically. One of my favorite family traditions is a Christmas morning breakfast bar.

Every year my family sets up a Christmas morning breakfast bar so that everyone can help themselves while the Christmas morning festivities are going on.
The following are what we usually include in our breakfast bar :
- Egg casserole
- Fruit bowl
- Bagels with cream cheese
- Muffins
- Yogurt
- Coffee/tea
- Mimosas
You can grab a plate and eat while people are opening presents and it just makes the morning that much more enjoyable. This year we are adding these festive berry granola parfaits. These are easy to prep ahead of time and adds something special to your Christmas celebration table.
To make this granola parfait, I used:
- This granola recipe (I used the same recipe for my Granola Gift Jars)
- Stonyfield Organic Plain or Vanilla Yogurt
- Sarah Wilson’s Berry Grown Up Sauce
found in her book (Alternative options for a healthy berry sauce are here, here, and here)
You can make the granola and berry sauce ahead of time, cover them, and pop in the fridge until ready to serve. Everyone loves this recipe and are usually going back for seconds. The nice thing about these parfaits is that they not too sweet. Everyone will be eating lots of Christmas cookies later in the day and will appreciate a healthy option for breakfast!
Taking the time to establish traditions that can evolve and grow with your family ensures that great memories are created and provides structure to your holidays. Just remember that the holidays should be enjoyed! Part of the fun is working together to maintain or create those traditions. Happy Holidays!
