Hi friends! I hope you all had a great weekend. I had a relaxing weekend catching up on cleaning, meal prep and sleep. After all the traveling we’ve been doing it felt great to relax and do boring chores and housework. Today, I’m back with another Two Ways Tuesday. Up next: a black pencil skirt.
I know many of you have this staple item in your wardrobe to wear to work or interviews. The first way I styled the skirt is the traditional/professional way that many people think of when they think of a black pencil skirt. I loved the bow detail at the the top of the shirt and how the sleeves are bunched around the wrist. I added black pumps and a black bag to complete the professional look.
The second way I styled it is a little more fun. I paired the pencil skirt with this floral embroidered sweater and red heels and bag. I am usually a big nude shoe lover (they go with everything) but when I saw these red babies I instantly fell in love! The more casual sweater allows this look to easily transition from work to dinner and drinks. I got this ring for $9.99 from the Sugarfish by Bauble Bar collection at Target. I love the jewelry because it’s all so cute at an amazing price point.
The funny thing is that the black pencil skirt was the last piece of this outfit that I put together. I found the sweater first. I loved the embroidered flowers and thought it was perfect for spring. Then I found the shoes and knew I had to have them. Then I tried on jeans, a leather skater skirt, and jeans shorts with the sweater. Nothing worked. That’s when I randomly grabbed my pencil skirt and tried it on and loved it! There are no rules in fashion so sometimes you’ve got to try on a million things in your closet before you find the perfect match – and sometimes the perfect match is an item that you would never have expected. That’s what makes fashion so fun! I’ve linked my outfit below. I couldn’t find the exact BCBG red shoes or Coach bag so I’ve linked similar options! Thanks for stopping by!
