Two Ways: Little Red Dress

Happy “Two Ways Tuesday”! Today’s post is two ways to style a little red dress. Valentine’s Day is during the work week this year so I wanted to show two different ways you could style an outfit for work and then to dinner with your valentine or friends.

The first way I styled this look is for the work place. Before I continue, I will give you a disclaimer – this is NOT what I wear to work. This outfit would be demolished with crayon smears and little hand prints within ten minutes of it entering the classroom. I realize that most of you work in an office without messy children and wear business casual clothes every day. So, I made this post for you. This outfit is perfect to wear to work on Valentine’s Day because it’s professional yet festive. I bought this blazer from Dillard’s before a job fair and I love pairing it with different pieces. If I were to create a capsule wardrobe, this black blazer would be in it. Every woman should have a well fitting black blazer in her closet.

The second way I styled this red dress is for a dinner with your Valentine after work. Even though I am the queen of changing clothes in the car, it’s not a pleasant activity or something I enjoy doing. So, if I am able to change a way an outfit looks without changing my actual clothes it’s a winner in my book. I wore a black patent leather belt in the first look to tie in the blazer but wore a silk belt (the one that came with the dress) in this next look to soften it for dinner. All you have left to do to make this outfit dinner ready it so ditch the blazer, add some jewelry, change your shoes and bag, put on a bolder lip and you’re ready to go.  The reason I loved this dress and bought it was because of the sleeves. I love anything ruffled and I love how the sleeves on this dress give it such a flirty vibe.
