I was able to go to Music Midtown last weekend with Bank of America to try out their cashless experience. I had the best time listening to some of my favorite singers perform live in one of my favorite places – Piedmont Park. If you are planning on attending Music Midtown, here are some tips that will help you get the most out of your day!
Flat Shoes
You will be on your feet all day so flat shoes are a must. Your outfit of the day should guide your shoe choice with either sandals, flats, or sneakers (all good options). Make sure to wear your shoes beforehand to break them in and make sure they are comfortable. You will be standing, dancing, and walking all day!
Ride with Uber or MARTA
It is very difficult (and expensive) to find parking near Piedmont Park. Plus, if you’d like to enjoy an adult beverage it’s best not to drive. This year, we Uber’ed to the festival and rode the MARTA home. When we tried to find an Uber after the festival, the app said there weren’t any Ubers available so we hopped on the MARTA.
We left 10 minutes early so we could get a little ahead of the crowds and I would definitely recommend doing this. We got on the first MARTA and got home within 15 minutes. If you wait until the very end, there will be more people waiting for a MARTA than can fit so you might have to wait 30-45 minutes to get on. Also, Uber will be surging during Music Midtown so MARTA is the more economical choice. When you take the MARTA, the closest stations to Piedmont Park are The Arts Center and Midtown stops.
Sunglasses
Squinting gives you a headache so make sure you bring your favorite pair of sunnies! I wore this DIFF eyewear pair!
Hands Free Bag
Make sure you’re wearing a bag that allows you to be hands free. I wore a cross body bag but I also think a small leather backpack would be cute as well! My favorite cross body bags are from BP at Nordstrom.
Eat a Good Breakfast
The morning of music midtown I had a green juice, eggs, and avocado toast. I was so glad I ate a big and nourishing breakfast because the rest of the day consisted of french fries, popsicles, and lemonade.
Go Cashless
My number one tip for Music Midtown and any other event that has this as an option. Since Bank of America sponsored the event this year, atendees were able to link their Bank of America card to their Music Midtown wristband. Whenever I bought food, drinks, or merchandise I just had to hold my wristband up to the cashier and it was paid for automatically. No more pulling cash or your credit card out and then risk someone bumping into you and dropping it. Going cashless enhanced my overall experience and made my day that much better!
Check the Weather
I cannot stress this enough! Check the weather and dress appropriately. If it’s going to rain, wear a rain jacket and bring a waterproof bag. If it’s going to be hot, wear sunscreen. If it’s going to get chilly at night, bring a light jacket that you can tie around your waist. It’s always good to be prepared.
I had so much fun at Music Midtown and can’t wait to go back. I hope these tips help you prepare for a fun and enjoyable weekend at Music Midtown!
