Whether it’s a work deadline, finishing that Netflix show, or in my case, finishing this blog post, we’ve all had nights when we’ve gotten to bed later than we would like (or never going to bed at all). When I get too little sleep, I wake up in the morning looking like death: under eye circles, a pale and dull complexion, and tired eyes. Since I’ve started teaching and blogging, I’ve had more late nights than I would like to admit and have developed a few tricks on how to “fake it till I make it”! Here are my tips on how to look awake when you haven’t had any sleep:
Exfoliate – The first thing I do when I wake up after a late night is wash my face with an exfoliating cleanser. A gentle exfoliation will take off the top layer of skin and will give you a fresh faced glow. I like to use a citrus scented cleanser in the mornings to wake me up even more! I love this exfoliating cleanser because it’s gentle for my sensitive skin and I love the orange scent!
Good eye cream – After I cleanse and exfoliate, I reach for my favorite eye cream. A good eye cream can work wonders on your under eye circles. I’m constantly testing eye creams because my under eye circles are basically permanent regardless of how many hours of sleep I get (I like to say that my under eye bags are designer). Lately I’ve been using VII Code Skincare’s oxygen eye cream. I love how silky it makes my skin feel and also how it makes my fine lines and under eye circles less noticeable! You can shop VII Code’s oxygen eye cream here.
Jade Roller – I LOVE my jade roller for mornings I’m sleep deprived or a morning after I’ve enjoyed a few glasses of wine or chinese food and my face is puffy. I keep mine in the fridge and make sure to roll up on my jawline, my cheeks, and under my eyes! This is the jade roller I use!
Workout – Even though it sounds counter productive, when I’m extra tired I like to wake up in the morning and workout before school. Even though I’m tired, a work out wakes me up and gets my blood circulating. Moving in the morning gives me more energy as well as improves my focus for the rest of the day! I recommend finding a workout you enjoy so waking up for it isn’t as hard. Lately I’ve been loving yoga sculpt classes.
Hero Makeup Products – Finally, some great makeup can instantly help you look more awake. I normally reach for a good concealer, mascara and highlighter on mornings that I’m extra tired. Concealer will help cover the under eye circles, mascara will open your eyes, and a highlighter will give you a glow that will trick people into thinking you got ten hours of sleep. You can find the makeup products I love and use daily on this post.
I hope these tips helped you for the next time you have a late night! What do you do in the mornings after a late night? Let me know in the comments below!
